Ready America to Supply Emergency Drinking Water for NYC

Ready America has been chosen to supply emergency drinking water to the city of New York. NYC Emergency Management (NYCEM) has contracted Ready America to replenish its supplies of emergency drinking water through 2022. The Aqua Literz and Aqua Blox drinking water will be provided to NYCEM as part of its stock pile of emergency relief supplies, which ordinarily includes more than one million liters of water. This order is enough to hydrate more than 500,000 people and eliminates the need for costly bottled water rotation every 12 months to two years.

The Next Pandemic - Lessons from History

John Barry’s PrepTalk offers lessons learned from the 1918 and 2009 influenza pandemics. He provides guidance on what emergency managers can do to work with public health and elected officials to implement measures that can save lives. Barry reminds us that “the boss is the virus. We have no way of knowing if the next [pandemic] will be exceedingly mild, or like 1918, or worse.” The National Academy of Sciences named his book, The Great Influenza: The Story of the Deadliest Pandemic in History, a “best book” in the field of science/medicine.
