Should I Stay or Should I Go, by the English punk rock band The Clash, comes to mind as I dream and brainstorm for the next phase of the Risk and Resilience HUB. This lively 1982 rock n’ roll classic ponders the prospects and hopes for an ongoing relationship. (Take a listen, it will make you smile!)
This fall marks my 40th year in the world of BC/CM/DR/EM/GRC.
Recently, many have asked me why I am still doing this work. The simple answer is that I am a matchmaker – passionate about connecting people and organizations – to each other and to valuable resources and solutions.
In regard to our relationship ….
Many of you started reading the annual Disaster Resource GUIDE in 1996 and now are engaged as authors, collaborators, contributors and readers of the Risk and Resilience HUB. Thank you!
For me, it all started in the fall of 1985 after the devastating Mexico City earthquake – first the Emergency Lifeline, followed by the Disaster Resource GUIDE, next the Continuity eGUIDE and now the Risk and Resilience HUB. It was then that I first understood the value of high quality resources and the need for preparedness solutions.
The HUB’s mission: To organize the world’s risk and resilience information and make it universally accessible and useful.
Googling “resilience” will bury you in links; 99% of them often not essential to you, the professional, wanting to prevent and/or prepare your organization for disruptions.
The HUB’s vision: To create a one-stop platform for a million global resilience professionals to connect, collaborate and create.
In a nutshell, this means: Access to thoughtful and trusted subject matter experts. Integration of silos. Curated content in six pillars. Long-term partnerships with key industry stakeholders. Connection and collaboration with professionals around the globe. Watch the video.
The mission and vision are way too big to accomplish alone.
Does a “one-stop” resource platform matters to you? I want to build a platform that serves you and your organization. Let’s brainstorm! The sky is the limit – what can the HUB do for you? If we had a magic wand, what could we create together?
We are in the midst of big changes to re-engineer the HUB for speed and performance. This transformation will last through much of 2025 — just in time to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We need your help to be sure we are making good choices focused on what is helpful to you!
I hope you will help me with three questions:
- Do you see a need for a “one-stop” online platform?
- What resources matter most to you and your organization?
- Would you share the Risk and Resilience HUB and the Continuity eGUIDE with your colleagues and professional network?
Should I stay or should I go?
I’d love to hear from you and hope you will take a few minutes to reach out to me at: [email protected]
