Do You Know What Your Business is Up Against?

Here’s a preview of some of the new cybersecurity data uncovered by this year’s 16th annual installment of the Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR); 83% of breaches involved external actors—with the ajority being financially motivated; 74% of breaches involved the human element, which includes social engineering attacks, errors or misuse; 50% of all social engineering attacks are pretexting incidents—nearly double last year’s total are pretexting incidents—nearly double last year’s total. The DBIR aims to provide security professionals with an in-depth analysis of data-driven, real-world instances of cybercrime and how cyberattacks play out across organizations of different sizes as well as from different verticals and disparate geographic locations.
