Walking Away: Increased turnover during the Great Resignation is creating new cybersecurity challenges

With many companies seeing large numbers of employees walking away during the pandemic, questions have been raised as to how those same companies are ensuring their cybersecurity during periods of high employee turnover. More specifically, these concerns relate to the risk imposed by departing employees either intentionally or accidentally exposing company IP, according to Tech Republic.

More specifically, in response to an annual survey from Code42, of the roughly 700 business leaders surveyed, 71% indicated that they had concerns about a lack of visibility into what data may have been taken by departing employees to other companies, and a similar number expressed concern about data being saved to personal devices or on the cloud. The survey also indicates that departing employees represent the second greatest source of IP loss, behind only hackers.
