Three Miles and Thirty Eight Years

In the close to four decades since the accident at Three Mile Island, effects are still being felt in the area, according to an article in PennLive.

The story covers the gradual unfolding of the disaster, the subsequent need for crisis communications and community involvement, as well as the news media coverage and its impact. Ralph deSantis, a security guard at the plant at the time of the incident, became part of the TMI information and communications team — a post he held until his recent retirement. “When you lose trust, it is hard,” chairman of the nuclear plant watchdog group, TMI Alert (and DeSantis’s former adversary) Eric Epstein told PennLive. “And I am not saying they gained trust back.”
