The State of Cybersecurity

Forbes contributor Steve Morgan continues to offer a weekly review of interesting issues within the fields of hacking and cybersecurity. For the week ending February 27, 2016, Morgan has provided links to key events and relevant issues such as:

  • An article in the New York Times about the expanded request of Apple by the U.S. Justice Department to unlock an additional 9 iPhones. “Apple’s chief Tim Cook is continuing to battle the FBI and U.S. government. The two sides are awaiting a ruling on whether Apple should be forced to cooperate,” writes Morgan.
  • A review in the Wall Street Journal on The Hacked World Order by Adam Segal: a book detailing cyber espionage and information warfare between the United States, China, Russia, Europe, and other state and non-state actors.
  • A story on drops in funding from private investors for cybersecurity startups from Barron’s: Fortinet, Check Point Software and Palo Alto Networks. “All three play in the hot next generation firewall (NGFW) market,” writes Morgan.
