Starting Anew: Many organizations need to rethink their cybersecurity approaches

While previously major organizations were prime targets for cyberattacks, we’ve now reached a point where even the smallest company can find themselves victims of a breach as cybercriminals increasingly focus on the easiest sources of exploitable data. However, despite huge increases in spending, with Statista indicating global expenditures on cybersecurity reaching $188 billion by the end of 2023, organizations are still struggling to find a solution that fits their specific needs, as reported by InfoSecurity magazine.

Rather than looking only at the most current solutions, companies need to consider how to customize their defenses for their individual needs, and to ensure their suppliers are also well defended, to protect against third-party or supply chain attacks. Additionally, there needs to be a recognition that monetary investments need to be paired with careful thought about how that money is spent and recognizing that compliance with minimum cybersecurity standards is only a starting point, and not an end point for protecting your data.
