Seeing It All: Cybersecurity is best thought of in terms of how you continue to develop it, rather than as a defined end point

In cybersecurity, the threats are always evolving. What may be a robust system today could quickly become one that’s behind the times as new exploits are found in existing systems, or as cyberattackers refine their approaches to take advantage of new techniques in social engineering. If you find yourself in the mindset that your defenses are ready for everything, you’re likely leaving yourself vulnerable to whatever is coming next.

To help ensure your defenses are always being updated, it’s best to think of cybersecurity as an ongoing process, rather than a static system, according to an article in Forbes. It’s also best to imbue that understanding into your employees. Whether by introducing a regularly updated cybersecurity education program, by performing regular cybersecurity tests, or constantly reassessing your defenses as you probe for weaknesses or vulnerabilities, it’s important to also be revisiting what you’ve done. Also, be sure to recognize that no system will ever be perfect, and instead think about what you still can do to help make things better.
