It’s never too early to start thinking about the future, and the analysts at Gartner have clearly been doing so recently, as they’ve released a list of cybersecurity predictions for the coming new year. Covering both threats and responses, this list of eight items will provide some food for thought for any cybersecurity or IT team, as they consider what updates or adaptations they may need to make to their plans to ensure they’re not caught flat footed, according to an article in Venture Beat.
Among the predictions made are:
- The growing risk of supply chain attacks, and the increased impact of geopolitical risks on cybersecurity
- The increasing importance of zero trust on cybersecurity risk management, to minimize exposure in the event of hacked or otherwise compromised accounts
- The growth of automation in cybersecurity operations as a part of a robust defense, and to free up limited resources for critical tasks
- The need for improved and adaptable protection of user endpoints, as more and more devices find themselves outside of the conventional corporate network
- As is always the case, the only guarantee in cybersecurity from year to year is the constant change.
