Planning for the Future: Companies need to revisit their business continuity plans to reflect new and potential threats

The initial response to the pandemic showed the value of a well thought out business continuity plan. The continued changes that are being forced by the ongoing spread of COVID-19 are causing organizations to revisit and revise these same plans, however, to ensure they reflect what CIOs see as the new normal, according to an article in Enterprise Talk.

This reshaping of business continuity plans includes the following:

  • Reemphasizing the importance of employee well-being, via ensuring workers have access to the tools and resources they require, and engaging with employee feedback in a meaningful manner.
  • Ensuring the executive team is heavily involved with decisions involving business continuity planning, to ensure plans fully cover all major areas of need for an organization
  • Establishing clean lines of communication with key internal and external stakeholders and customers, at more extensive levels than before, to make sure there are no gaps in understanding
  • Reviewing business processes to identify potential liabilities and costs should processes be disrupted.
