In support of Cyber Security Awareness Month, Joe Sigrist, CEO of LastPass, offers a list of some of the worst password habits for those engaging in online activities. Among the greatest offences:
- Not regularly updating passwords, or not using strong passwords;
- Reusing the same passwords across multiple sites, making the password only as safe as the least secure site;
- Sharing passwords with friends or family or giving access to too many people; and
- Emailing passwords, potentially exposing additional sensitive information should your account be compromised.
In terms of resolving these habits, Sigrist recommends both using a password manager, and performing a regular audit of online passwords and accounts.
