How will your company handle things when an employee tests positive for COVID-19? To ensure you’re ready, make sure your incident response plan has been fully updated for current conditions. In the event you don’t already have a plan in place, consider following these steps:
- Establish clear procedures for how an incident should be handled
- Identify key roles and responsibilities, including defining who is in charge, and what approvals are required before any action is taken
- Define the communications process, including who should be engaged at each step, and when third party organizations should be contacted
- Test the plan under controlled conditions, to identify gaps, omissions, or conflicts
Additionally, after any incident, whether actual or just a test, write up a report summarizing the findings and resolutions, and use that as an input to review and revise your incident response plan before the next event occurs.
