Looking Back: What can we learn from a 2011 study on disaster recovery

While the specific threats to the smooth operation of IT are constantly changing, many of the underlying conditions remain constant with the passing of time. Writing for ComputerWeekly.com, Tony Lock looks back at a study performed a decade ago examining the key issues around disaster recovery, and what needed to be done to achieve a robust solution.

From his review, Lock finds may of the same concerns remain, with recovery times, limitations on funding, and questions about the comprehensiveness of solutions dominating the discussion in the same way they still do now. At the same time, Lock notes that there are signs of improvement, with more organizations having existing plans in place, and with many of the new technologies for disaster recovery from 2011 now being readily available to even small organizations.
