Long Distance Costs: To help with remote security, organizations are increasing training budgets

The results of a recent report by Prey, an anti-theft software company, has noted that many companies have acted to increase their cybersecurity training budgets in the last year, in response to the additional risks and threats imposed by remote work.

According to an article in TechRepublic, with roughly 88% of respondents indicating an increase in training, the hope is that organization will see a reduction in damage caused by phishing, and attacks targeting offsite employees. As only 30% of respondents strongly agreed with the statement that remote workers understood the ways at which their bad cybersecurity habits may be putting their company at risk, any improvement in understanding from training should result in immediate dividends.

Additional training of users should help reduce the strain on IT departments, as the report found that 92% of respondents agreed that the increase in remote work had made cybersecurity activities more challenging, and 67% agreed that the amount of endpoint misuse had increased since the start of the pandemic.
