Less than half of respondents to a recent Voice of the CISO report from Proofpoint believe their organizations are prepared for a cyberattack

The first Voice of the CISO report from California based Proofpoint has indicated that a majority of companies are not confident in their ability to handle a cyberattack, with the report also finding that many companies are struggling to handle the hybrid working model of employees being both onsite and offsite, according to an article in The

Delta Optimist. Respondents also generally indicated an increase in the number of observed attacks, with many successful attacks being enabled by human error.

In solving the pressure organizations find themselves under, Licia Milaca, CISO for Proofpoint, says IT departments and company executives need to get themselves on the same page. “Boards and executives are supportive but it’s difficult to understand cyber risks if you don’t have the background to understand. There’s not a meeting of minds,” said Milaca to The Delta Optimist.

Comparably, Derek Manky, chief of security insights and global threat alliance for Fortinet, said to The Delta Optimist, “It is becoming a board-level conversation. People are starting to become aware this is a pandemic of its own when it comes to ransomware.”
