Innovation and Aggravation

A recent study by the Harvard Business Review, sponsored by Verizon Enterprise Solutions, has looked into the struggles faced by organizations as they attempt to balance the needs of business flexibility with the complexity of their IT systems. Based on the survey, respondents offered insights into such items as:

  • The growth of hybrid IT solutions by 63% of respondents, mixing legacy centers, and private and public clouds, and emphasizing the needs for strong security to protect all systems
  • The maturation of cloud-based solutions, with 59% of respondents indicating such systems have improved their competitiveness
  • The struggles companies face in adopting a hybrid IT approach, with repeatable successes still being an exception.

“The vast majority of CIOs and line of business owners are working within the constraints of legacy apps, networks and investments,” says vice president of managed services for Verizon Enterprise Solutions Chris Yousey. “And while the move to hybrid IT is about protecting their investments, it’s really more about improving performance, availability and above all, agility in today’s business climate.”
