Recognizing the nation’s status as a popular destination for tourists, the Japan Tourism Agency has launched an app designed to ensure visitors to the country receive helpful notifications and assistance in the event of a natural disaster. Called Safety Tips, the app uses location services to push warnings about earthquakes, tsunamis, or other emergency events and potential threats to visitors to Japan, according to The Mainichi.

In addition to these notifications, Safety Tips also provides users with information on any evacuations procedures, as well as communication cards for common questions in the aftermath of a disaster, such as, “Where is the emergency shelter?” Additional features include lists of emergency service numbers, local medical institutions, and train routes.

Safety Tips supports multiple languages, such as Japanese, English, Korean, and simplified and traditional Chinese.
