Expecting the Unexpected

In the best case, you’ll never need a disaster recovery solution. But, with cyberattacks, defective equipment, user error, or natural disaster, it’s more likely than not that your company will benefit from having some sort of solution in place. However, with thousands of options available, it’s important to be able to narrow down your needs to the best possible solution.

To help with that narrowing of data backup and disaster recovery, Benjamin Roussey, writing for TechGenix, recommends a vendor solution featuring the following:

  1. The use of hybrid cloud systems, to ensure maximum business continuity in the event of a disruption
  2. The avoidance of backup windows, instead allowing businesses needs to drive recovery point objectives
  3. Clearly stated costs, which include storage, security, and necessary resources
  4. Appropriate recovery times, recognizing the expenses associated with disruption of resources and unavailability of data
  5. A high level of intuitiveness, to ensure ease of use, and compatibility with multiple systems
  6. Visual confirmation of results, to ensure backups and redundancies are in place and active
  7. A comprehensive security solution, to prevent data breaches
  8. Around the clock support

Solutions should also be regularly revisited, to ensure changes in the company’s needs are properly addressed in any disaster recovery solution plan.
