Cutting Corners: A recent report finds most offsite workers are taking cybersecurity shortcuts

A recent report by ThycoticCentrify, a cloud identify security solutions provider, has found that many workers were willing to bend or break cybersecurity rules in favor of convenience, as reported in CPO Magazine.

Among the key findings was that roughly 79% of the 8,041 knowledge workers surveyed engaged in at least some behavior which put security at risks. For specific activities, respondents admitted that:

  • 33% saved their passwords on browsers;
  • 32% used public Wi-Fi;
  • 23% reused passwords across multiple sites; and
  • 23% also used personal devices on the corporate network.

Many of these behaviors were done with the knowledge of the risks they posed, although the perceived severity of the risk was often low.
