Continuing to Perform: Establishing Your Business Continuity Plan for COVID-19

While most organizations now at least have a basic business continuity plan in place, there are some which still don’t, or at least don’t have one which addresses conditions as severe as those that are currently being faced.  For those companies, Chloe Demrovsky, writing at Forbes offers a basic primer on what should be considered, recommending that any plan needs to:

  • Identify key resources and goals,
  • Understand potential risks or threats,
  • Consider the potential impact of these threats on key organizational functions, and
  • Determine basic plans of action

For those organizations with business continuity plans already in place, Mark Edgar, writing at HRReporter.com, writes about their stress testing in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with a particular focus on human resources departments.  While addressing the stresses imposed by mass layoffs, he offers three recommendations to help keep remaining remote staff engaged and productive:

  • Focus on identifying gaps in your digital experience
  • Where possible, ensure team members are familiar with existing digital solutions before introducing new ones
  • Get regular feedback from team members and leaders as to what is and isn’t working
