Constant Revisions: Ensure your organization’s disaster recovery plans are fully up to date

Organizations that have been lax with respect to updating their disaster recovery plans have been punished in recent months, as the rapidly changing situation around the response to the COVID-19 pandemic has left them struggling to adapt and otherwise keep up. According to an article in Accounting Today, consider revisiting areas including, but not limited to the following to help ensure your company maintains a robust disaster recover plan:

  • Work from home policies, to allow for continued operation, should sites be closed by corporate or government order.
  • Support for remote technologies, to support worker access to key resources during disruptions.
  • The deployment of security tools for offsite equipment, whether laptops or servers.
  • General health and safety protocols, to ensure people are working from a common set of guidelines and understandings as to best practices.
  • Communications guidelines, to allow for smooth broadcast of key information to both internal and external customers.
