Coming Soon: As this year winds down, consider looking forward to the trends that will shape cybersecurity in 2023

Every year brings a new set of cybersecurity trends, as technologies continue to evolve, and individuals and teams learn from what’s happened, leading to changes in both cybersecurity attacks and defenses. Looking forward to 2023, some trends appear to be continuing, while others are slowly beginning to emerge from the noise, as reported in Digit News.

Among the most notable are:

  • The continued deficit of skilled cybersecurity employees, as demand has far outstripped supply.
  • Increased reliance on artificial intelligence and machine learning to reduce workload for overburdened teams, and to support automated threat detection
  • Growing awareness of the vulnerabilities of many Internet of Things technologies, and their usefulness as attack vectors for hackers
  • Changes to the legislative environments for cybersecurity, as nations introduce new laws and bills designed to improve and reshape cybersecurity standards for both devices and organizations.

While we can’t be sure exactly what 2023 will bring, the above can help to give us some idea of what to expect, and to help prepare for likely challenges.

Of course, with the rapid changes in the industry, new threats and trends could emerge from unexpected directions, making the future for cybersecurity even more eventful than it’s already likely to be.
