Both Sides Now

A coalition spanning both democrat and republican parties, made up of 25 Ohio mayors, has formally requested Gov. John Kasich’s assistance towards “a more coordinated and comprehensive strategy between all levels of government” to fight the opioid crisis, according to Indie Online.

Formally known as The Ohio Mayors Alliance, the coalition includes 25 mayors of Ohio’s biggest cities. The letter includes requests including the activation of the State Emergency Operations Center and Joint Dispatch Facility, the creation of a mutual-aid mechanism between cities and a charitable vehicle for private-sector donations. Additional suggested actions include communication between local government and emergency professionals such as public health and local police.
