Ahead of the Curve: What can your organization do to ensure you’re ready for a cybersecurity incident

With the variety and number of cyberattacks continuing to increase, it’s only a matter of time before any organization finds itself a target, and people are taking increasing notice of the threat. According to an article in Help Net Security, the results of a global survey by Marsh, in partnership with Microsoft, placed cybersecurity as a top priority for roughly two thirds of respondents, indicating companies are recognizing its importance, but only 30% of respondents indicated their company had established an incident response plan.

For the remaining 70%, Help Net Security has put together a list of eleven steps organizations can follow to help improve their ability to react to a cybersecurity incident.Beginning with advance planning, moving through response during an attack, and including discussion and further review after an incident is over, the list seeks to provide a framework for establishing a new incidence response plan for organizations without one, while also adding robustness for those organizations which have already established incident response plans.
