Looking at the changes and trends from the previous year, Joergen Jakobsen, regional vice president for Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) at Sophos, offers his insights as to what sort of threats are likely to grow and evolve to the field of cybersecurity. Among the predictions are:
- Continued use and growths of IOT networks in DDoS attacks;
- Further attacks on financial infrastructures;
- Increased encryption of traffic applying pressures to security products;
- The further evolution of ransomware to allow for different routes of infection.
As in earlier years, the battle for cyber security will need to be both proactive and reactive, as those looking to protect information continue to duel with those looking to access it.
