As hurricane season began on June 1, a number of agencies are creating videos and tips to help citizens prepare for disaster.
Secretary of Homeland Security John F. Kelly released a hurricane preparedness video that “urged Americans in the potential path of a hurricane to know their risk, prepare, and stay informed,” according to American Security Today.
The video was part of Secretary Kelly’s site visit on June 1 to the National Hurricane Center for an operational briefing regarding the 2017 hurricane season, reported American Security Today.
In South Florida, WGCU.com reported on a new alert system that the National Hurricane Center is working on for storm warnings. Storm surge specialist Jamie Rhome told WGCU that a new feature includes storm surge watches and warnings, as well as four other changes to hurricane season forecasts.
